Creativity Salon w/Bittercube at MIA
Posted Saturday November 21, 2015

We've partnered up with our friends at Bittercube and Mia for an extra special night of creativity in consumable form. Friday December 4th at 6:30 join Fulton Head Brewer Mike Salo and Nick Kosevich of Bittercube in discussion about the inspirations and creative process behind making their product. We'll be walking attendees through a tasting of beer and cocktail. Afterwards, participants will have a turn making their own cocktails from a variety of sources and, in the spirit of Ferran Adrià, will map their creative process through sketches and drawing. This event is sure to sell out as tickets are limited.

For more information regarding this event, click here. Tickets: $30; $24 Mia members. Includes drinks and all materials. To reserve: 612.870.6323 or tickets.artsmia.org.

GABF WIN!
Posted Tuesday November 17, 2015

We went to Denver this fall and took our favorite blonde with us. This year we entered into the Great American Beer Festival for the first time and came back home grinning ear to ear. Lonely Blonde won bronze in the "English style summer ale" division. Not bad for first time around.

Vasque Sundowner launch party at Askov Finlayson
Posted Thursday November 12, 2015

This summer we brewed a beer called Lodestar for our North Loop neighbors Bachelor Farmer. This award winning restaurant also happens to be joined with its sibling business, Askov Finlayson. On 11/16 we’re helping them throw a little soiree for the arrival of another Minnesota brand, Vasque (owned by Red Wing). Of course, there will be Lodestar on draft and the wizards of Marvel Bar will be whipping up a Lodestar cocktail, too. Free to attend from 5-7pm. Brought to you by Fulton, Vasque, Gear Junkie and Marvel Bar.

Operation Warm 2015 Recap
Posted Thursday November 12, 2015

For 2 years in a row we’ve helped the Minneapolis Fire Department in their efforts to deliver warmth and happiness to children in need, via their Operation Warm program. Last week, got to help the firefighters hand out 3,000 coats to Bethune Community School, Anne Sullivan Community School and Red Lake Elementary. Thank you to everyone who attended the event in September that helped afford so many warm coats for the kids!

Fulton & NOLA Brewing present: MESSIPI

MESSIPI – A DUAL COLLABORATION WITH NOLA BREWING

On Tuesday 11/17 beginning at 3pm join us at The Sample Room for the release of our dual beer collaboration with friends NOLA Brewing. Click the link above for info on their special chalk board menu crafted specifically to compliment both versions of Messipi.

We talked with Fulton Head Brewer Mike Salo to get his take on the collaboration:

“Both of our breweries are within a few blocks of the Mississippi river so we wanted to create something that was tied together by the river. We also wanted to pay homage to the French settlers/voyageurs that helped create both New Orleans & Minneapolis. We used french malt, hops, & yeast (French Saison – 3711) to create an amber saison. The color of the beer is meant to mimic the amber waters of the Mississippi. We decided to create two different versions of the same beer to represent our different cities. The “clean” version is solely fermented with the french saison yeast and fermented in stainless to depict the clean headwaters of the Mississippi. The result is a crisp, clean, easy to drink amber saison with a subtle Noble hop character. The “dirty” or “funky” version is the same beer but aged in French oak red wine barrels that underwent a secondary fermentation with 12 different strains of Brettanomyces to depict all of the things that the water in the Mississippi picks up while flowing down south. The result is a slightly hazy red/amber saison with hints of red wine, oak, tropical fruit, & Brett character.”
